EN 4/6903 English Renaissance Drama (excluding Shakespeare)

T, Th 8:00-9:15

Bentley

For the most part, the study of Renaissance drama is limited to the plays of Shakespeare. However, Shakespeare did not write in a cultural or artistic vacuum. He was only one of several playwrights who produced the rich and significant dramas of the period, working alongside of figures such as Thomas Kyd, Christopher Marlowe, Robert Greene, Beaumont and Fletcher, and Ben Jonson. This course will focus on a selection of dramas by these and other writers.
