Dr. Richard F. Patteson Endowed Scholarship in English
In May 2011, the family of Dr. Patteson established the DR. RICHARD F. PATTESON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ENGLISH at Mississippi State University.
Dr. Richard F. Patteson, passed away on June 21,2010. He was Director of Graduate Studies in the Department of English and a professor at Mississippi State University. Dr. Patteson earned his BA in English from Trinity College in Connecticut and his PhD from the University of Pennsylvania and then taught English at Mississippi State University from 1976 to 2010.
The Mississippi State University Foundation agrees to use the family gift to establish the DR. RICHARD F. PATTESON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ENGLISH. This fund is being established in memory of Dr. Patteson and will benefit the Graduate Studies program. The funds may be used to cover tuition or expenses associated with Graduate degree studies as determined by the Department Head of English.
Candidates for the DR. RICHARD F. PATTESON ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP IN ENGLISH must meet the following criteria:
- The candidates must be in good standing at Mississippi State University.
- The candidates must be pursuing a Graduate degree within the Department of English.
- The candidates must have demonstrated financial need.
The University Scholarship Committee administers the scholarship program at Mississippi State University. The College of Arts & Sciences Scholarship Committee will make recommendations to the University Scholarship Committee. Any scholarships will be awarded on a year to year basis. Students who are recipients one year are eligible for consideration in any other year; however, they must again comply with the selection criteria.
