Why English?

Growing up, I was the kid who wanted to be everything under the sun -- literally. I wanted to be a firefighter, a pilot, a geneticist, a veterinarian, a photographer, a dancer, and probably more that I can't recall quite as vividly. I felt like I had thousands of lives stored away in my head and I wanted to live all of them, so when it came time to decide what I wanted to pursue officially, I was stumped. Then, it came to me: teach English. I come from a family of teachers. I've been reading since before I can remember. I love to write. Why not study English and give validity to those thousands of lives I dreamt about through words? Studying English was the only answer for me.

Favorite Books Reads for Class:

It's honestly hard for me to remember what I read for class versus what I read for fun. At some point, to fend off reading burnout, I started making it a priority to read for pleasure alongside reading for class so i wouldn't associate reading with work and start to dislike it. With that being said, I remember really enjoying Zora Neale Hurston's Their Eyes Were Watching God and A Place For Us by Fatima Farheen Mirza.

Hobbies:

I'm slowly learning to crochet. I love music, reading, writing, baking, and photography. I'm also learning about yoga and quilting.
